Membership of Dundee Choral Union

Dundee Choral Union is always pleased to welcome new members.

Anyone interested in an audition should contact the General Secretary, Mrs Kay Simpson, using the contact details shown at the foot of this page or by email. She will notify you of the next date when auditions will take place.

All prospective members of Dundee Choral Union are required to audition before the Musical Director, Norman Beedie; our Concert Secretary, Iain Gray; and the Steward of the Chorus, Moira Nicholson. An accompanist will be provided.

The purpose of the audition is to ensure that all members of the Choral derive enjoyment and satisfaction from producing musical performances of as high a standard as possible, given the amateur status of the choir.

The audition will require you to :

• Sing a piece of your choice not exceeding three minutes.
• Undertake a simple sight-reading test.

Dundee Choral Union meet on Monday evenings between September and March at 7.10 pm prompt until 9.10 pm in the High School of Dundee, Trinity Hall, Euclid Crescent, Dundee. Cars may be parked in the school playground.

The subscription rate for the 2008 / 2009 season is £73.00 per adult. Full-time students and school children are admitted to membership free of charge.

Members provide sheet music at their own expense, although, where possible, hired scores are made available at nominal rates. All music is ordered through Dundee Choral Union.

Members are expected to sell tickets for the concerts.
